By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter
Expect delays in downtown Clarkesvillef rom April 14 through June 27. That's due to the demolition of the former Habersham County Courthouse building in the downtown area.

Habersham County Public Works Director Jerry Baggett is advising Clarkesville drivers to expect delays over the next six weeks as crews demolish the old structure, originally opened in 1963. There will be temporary lane closures for the westbound and central turn lane located at 555 Monroe Street, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m, Monday through Friday, beginning today, April 14.

Work in the area necessitating temporary lanes closures will continue through Friday, June 27, as the projected completion date.

The Habersham County Sheriff's Office social media post on Sunday indicates that closures will be as needed during the hours of operation for the demolition project. Habesham County's court system moved into their current location in 2012.
