CLEVELAND – White County is 3-0 for the first time since 2017.
White County ripped off 28 unanswered points in the first half en route to a 42-7 rout of the Dragons at Warrior Stadium on Friday.
J Ben Haynes led the way, again, accounting for 320 of the 486 total yards. He was 13 of 20 passing with 191 yards and a touchdown and added 129 yards on 12 carries and two scores.
Haynes scored both his rushing touchdowns in the first quarter. The first came on a two-play drive set up by a fumble recovery on the Pickens 18-yard line. He capped the drive with a two-yard dart to the end zone. Just over five minutes later, Haynes found the end zone again on a seven-yard run, followed by a Silas Mulligan 9-yard run with 2:29 left in the opening quarter to push the Warriors well in control, 21-0.
Haynes and the Warriors continue pouring water on the Dragons' fire early in the second quarter on a 65-yard scoring strike to Darius Cannon. The score pushed the lead to 28-0.
In the third quarter, the Warriors ran 29 plays for 187 yards and two touchdowns. Mulligan and Riley Stancil both scored on 2-yard runs.
Mulligan finished with 61 yards on 15 carries. Seth Stonecipher had seven carries for 49 yards and Zion McMullen finished with 48 yards on eight carries. Cannon hauled in two passes for 75 yards, and Cooper Turner grabbed five passes for 44 yards.
The Warriors (3-0) will travel to Habersham Central on Friday.
