TIGER, Ga. – The Rance Gillespie era at Rabun County is off to a great start with a 42-6 win over White County Friday night.
After a turnover from each team on their first plays of the season, the Wildcats got on the board with a rushing touchdown from Reid Giles from five yards out to give the home team the early lead. Four minutes later, Lake Evans punched it in from a yard out at the 6:04 mark of the first quarter to go up 15-0.
The Wildcats didn't stop there as Ty Truelove found Dane Tyler for 24 yards and his first passing touchdown of the season, making the score 22-0 after one quarter of play. Rabun County had a pair of rushing touchdowns by Giles to start the second quarter with the All-Access running back going for 13 and 67 yards, respectively, to push the lead out to 36-0.
The Warriors answered with a 77 yard passing score from Alex Freeman to Davey Walker at 9:06 in the second quarter to cut the lead to 36-6, but a pair of Bryan Avila field goals finished off the scoring by halftime.
Rabun County will return home next week to take on Fannin County, while White County has next week off before its home opener against Habersham Central in two weeks.
