Gainesville man arrested in child molestation investigation

A Gainesville man is in the Hall County Jail with no bond following his arrest in a child molestation investigation.

According to information released by the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Thomas Justin Wetherford, 33, was arrested Thursday, March 26, the same day warrants were issued for aggravated child molestation, aggravated sodomy and incest. 

"The investigation began on Thursday, Jan. 30, when Sheriff’s Deputies responded to Northeast Georgia Medical Center where the victim, a female child under the age of 16, was being treated," said sheriff's office spokesman Derreck Booth in an email statement. "According to the preliminary investigation, Wetherford sexually assaulted the victim at his residence in North Hall County."

Investigators said they continue to look into the case, and additional charges may be filed.
