Seven northeast Georgia area teams advanced to the quarterfinals in their respective classifications.
All seven area teams are region champions and all seven will be playing host in the quarterfinal round, which begins Tuesday around the area and state. (Click here for a notebook on the quarterfinals matchups for area teams).
One team, the Banks County boys, is looking for its first-ever semifinal appearance. Both Buford teams are the defending Class 5A state champions and are trying to repeat.
