JEFFERSON, Ga. — Greg Brown has stepped down after seven years as the Jefferson girls basketball coach.
Brown announced on Tuesday via his Facebook account and confirmed through text message that he has accepted a job as head girls' coach at Dade County High School.
"As many of you know, the last few years have been pretty tough for our family on a personal level," the post said. "We have had to learn the hard way that the time we get to spend with FAMILY is precious and short. We have come to the decision as a FAMILY that we want and need to be back closer to HOME! I have resigned my position as Head Girls Basketball Coach at Jefferson High School and will be taking a job closer to our immediate family. We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here leading the girls' basketball program at Jefferson High School. We have made many wonderful memories and built relationships that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. We know the Lady Dragons will continue to be one of the top girls' basketball programs in the state of Georgia!"
The Lady Dragons finished the 2024-25 campaign 22-6, regular season Region 8-3A champions, Region 8-3A tournament runner-up and a Class 3A Sweet 16 appearance.
Brown was hired in May 2018 to lead the Lady Dragons, replacing Jason Gibson.
While at the program's helm, he led the Lady Dragons to five region titles across three classifications, seven straight state tournament appearances (four quarterfinals, one second round, and one first), recorded four 25-win seasons and six 20-plus win campaigns.
He finishes his time at Jefferson with a 155-46 overall record and a 74-9 mark in region play.
