Jackson County woman arrested after barricading herself inside for seven hours

Authorities with the Hall County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team arrested a Maysville woman at her residence Friday afternoon after a seven-hour standoff.

Jackson County 911 received a call just before noon from construction workers in the area of Pinetree Circle who said a nearby resident shot at them.

When a deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff's Office arrived at the scene, he saw a woman in a driveway with a gun. She pointed the gun toward the deputy, then retreated back into her home and barricaded herself inside. Deputies made multiple attempts to communicate with the woman to get her out.

Around 4:42 p.m., Hall County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team arrived on the scene and made further attempts to get her out.

Just after 7 p.m., seven hours after the initial 911 call, the SWAT team entered the residence and arrested the woman.

There were no injuries and the woman's name has not yet been released.
