Gainesville job growth rate ranked 6th in country

Gainesville is ranked sixth in the country among "midsized" cities for job growth, according to a new AdvisorSmith study.

The report shows Gainesville added 10,100 jobs over the past three years for a growth rate of 12%.  At the end of July, Gainesville had 96,300 total jobs.   

Here is a breakdown of the best midsize cities for job growth:

1. Midland, TX

2. Odessa, TX

3. Reno, NV

4. St. George, UT

5. Greeley, CO

6. Gainesville, GA

7. Hilton Head Island, SC

8. Spartanburg, SC

9. Myrtle Beach, SC

10. Naples, FL 

"We analyzed cities based upon data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Census Bureau," according to a news release from AdvisorSmith, a business insurance advisor.  "Our study compared the percentage change in employment over a three-year period. (For the purposes of the study, the population listed in the document includes the estimated population of all of Hall County.)
