Back-to-school jitters may have been a bit different for fourth-grader Caden Dixon whose father, Nicolas Blane Dixon, was killed in the line of duty nearly a month ago.

A social media post shared by the Hall County Sheriff's Office showed Caden's first day back-to-school was filled with love and support by his late father's law enforcement family. Caden was walked to class with his mother, Stephanie Dixon, and more than a dozen sheriff's deputies.

Deputy Dixon was shot and killed on July 8 during a stolen vehicle chase which involved four teenagers; Five additional teenagers were taken into custody by the GBI with connections to the crime on July 17.

Dixon was a three-year veteran with the Hall County Sheriff's Office where he began his career as a jailer. Dixon was on patrol for nine months when he was killed.

Dixon left behind a wife and two young boys, Caden and 4-month-old Colton Justice.
