A former employee of The Oaks Miniature Golf in Oakwood was arrested Monday for a series of alleged thefts that occurred while she was working at the putt-putt course.
According to the Hall County Sheriff's Office, Nicole Elizabeth Bowers, 37, of Oakwood, was arrested on charges including theft by taking, theft by conversion and forgery in the fourth degree.
The agency said the owner of the putt-putt course initially called police on March 3 to report the thefts. The victim told investigators he believed Bowers, a former employee, was responsible for the thefts.
"During the course of the investigation, HCSO determined Ms. Bowers had stolen a check from the business, which she later used to pay for a vehicle repair, and three deposit checks from customers of the business, which she deposited into her personal bank account," the sheriff's office said in a press release.
The agency also said Bowers allegedly stole various items from the victim, including jewelry, coins and a small bag of Canadian and British currency. Those items were pawned at a local pawn shop. The total theft amount was just over $2,500.
As of Tuesday morning, Bowers remained in the Hall County Jail with a bond of $10,900.
