By B.J. Williams

Charges have been upgraded against a Braselton woman who was jailed on May 9 for the attempted murder of a man she met via an online gaming site.

According to jail records, Monica Pinckney, 52, remains behind bars on charges of murder and aggravated assault in connection with the death of James Patrick Pritchard, Jr. of Durango, Colorado. Jackson County Sheriff Janis Mangum confirmed the upgraded charges via email.

Deputies found Pritchard, bloody and bruised, in a bathtub at Pinckney's home on Roberts Drive in Braselton the night of May 8. He was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville where he remained in critical condition until his death on May 22.

Investigators have not said why the 29-year-old Pritchard was in Georgia. They also have not released a specific cause of death for the victim.

An obituary in the Durango Herald said a celebration of life service was held for Pritchard this past Saturday, June 1.
