Gainesville is one of three locations where hunters can weigh in this month on proposed changes to the state's hunting regulations.
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) said the proposed changes impact both the 2019-2020 and the 2020-2021 hunting seasons.
According to information released recently by DNR officials, proposed changes include amendments to reflect statutory changes, shift the Central Georgia bear season, adjust either sex firearms days for deer, extend archery season for urban counties that meet criteria, and regulate hunting and other activities on wildlife management areas and other public lands. Some housekeeping changes are also included in the proposed changes.
Hunters and other interested parties can find a synopsis of all proposed rule changes on the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division webpage at http://georgiawildlife.com/regulations/proposed.
The Gainesville meeting will be held Monday, April 15 at 7 p.m. in the Chattahoochee Room at the Gainesville Civic Center at 830 Green Street.
For those who can't attend the meeting, Georgia DNR will take comments electronically via this link. Written statements should be mailed to: GA DNR/Wildlife Resources Division/Game Management Section; Attn: Tina Johannsen; 2067 U.S. Highway 278, S.E.; Social Circle, Georgia 30025.
