Oakwood man remains jailed in connection to elder neglect case

An Oakwood man remains jailed Monday and was arrested Friday after authorities found a home in disarray after a dog bite call earlier in the month.

Hall County Sheriff's deputies responded to the home in the 4000 block of Sequoia Drive in Oakwood with Animal Control and found the 92 year old female victim had a bite on her hand, according to spokesman Derreck Booth with the Sheriff's Office. She was transported to an area hospital for treatment. Her son, Foster Jay Green, 50, lives with the victim and was on scene at the time of the call.

While responding, Booth said deputies found the urine on the floors and dirty and unsanitary conditions at the home. Booth was not sure how many animals may have been in the home at the time of the investigation.

Following further investigation, a warrant for Green's arrest was obtained Friday, and Booth said he remained in jail Monday on a $5,700 bond.

He faces one count of neglect of an elder person.

Booth said the victim was released from the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and was doing ok.
