Area teams continued to separate themselves from the rest in Week 8. Meanwhile, some of the area’s athletes turned in big performances.
Cherokee Bluff running back Jayquan Smith led the area in rushing with 244 yards in three touchdowns in the Bears’ 45-10 win over Lumpkin County. It was Bluff’s first-ever Region 7-3A win.
Riverside quarterback Shad Dabney passed for 238 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for another two scores and 28 yards to lead the area in passing and scoring.

-- Gainesville’s Dez Brown had 90 yards and a touchdown and Gionni Williams added 91 yards and a score as well.
-- Buford’s Gabe Ervin led the Wolves with 100 yards rushing in a 31-14 win over Cedar Shoals.
-- Jayquan Smith rushed for 244 yards and three touchdowns in Cherokee Bluff’s win over Lumpkin County.
-- Dawson County’s Zack Holtzclaw was 11-of-23 for 198 yards and a touchdown.
-- Dakohta Sonnichsen caught three passes for 109 yards and touchdown to lead Dawson County’s receiving corp.
-- Flowery Branch’s Jaizen Ellingham rushed four times for 113 yards and three scores in the Falcons' 40-7 win over Chestatee.
-- Shad Dabney tossed three touchdowns and racked up 238 yards to lead Riverside past Providence Christian, 37-5.
-- Riverside wide receiver Adriel Clark hauled in 131 yards and three scores.
-- DJ Gray had four catches for 244 yards and three touchdowns to lead East Hall.
-- Luke England was 3-of-5 for 154 yards and two touchdowns and Clete Cooper was 15-of-20 for 160 yards and a touchdown.
