Brenau University will partially re-open its East Campus in Gainesville on Monday, Sept. 17.
The campus, located at Featherbone Communiversity on Chestnut Street, has been closed all week because of water damage from a sprinkler system at the neighboring Interactive Neighborhood for Kids (INK) Children's Museum.
A fire broke out in the pottery area at INK on Saturday night, and while the sprinkler system extinguished the fire, the sprinklers remained on and flooded INK. Water also seeped into adjacent facilities.
According to Brenau officials, nursing and dance faculty and students will be allowed back onto East Campus on Monday. Occupational Therapy students will receive instructions from faculty regarding classes, according to information on the Brenau University website.
Mandy Volpe, the Executive Director of INK, said the museum will remain closed as repairs continue on the exhibits.
