The City of Cleveland announced on Wednesday the appointment of Brady “Bo” Medlock as Interim Fire Chief, effective Aug. 1.

City officials said Medlock brings over a decade of experience, having served as Captain of “B” Shift with the White County Fire Department and working for the Helen Fire Department.

“The city council and I appreciate Bo’s willingness to accept this leadership role and provide stability for the fire department during this transition. Public safety is a high priority for the city, and this decision reiterates our commitment to keeping our community safe,”  Mayor Josh Turner said.

Medlock is certified in fire suppression, technical rescue, hazardous materials, and emergency medical response. He most recently earned credentials in Fire Instructor I and Fire Officer I.

His career in emergency services began in 2011 when he volunteered with the White County Fire Department. Medlock started working with the City of Cleveland Fire Department in 2014.

“It’s an absolute honor to step into this interim role and serve our community in a new capacity.  I’m excited to lead such a dedicated, hardworking team, and I look forward to building on our strong foundation while continuing to prioritize safety, teamwork, and innovation.  I strive to carry on the legacy that Chief Pruitt left behind,” Medlock said.
