Deputies: Man arrested for driving 100+ mph on Thompson Bridge Road

A DeKalb County man is facing charges for allegedly driving more than 100 mph, and more than 60 mph over the posted speed limit, along Thompson Bridge Road in Gainesville.

Early Wednesday morning, Abdon Tamer Ibrahim, 33, of Decatur was spotted in a 2011 Mercedes-Benz S550, a $20,000 car that had been reported stolen, said Derreck Booth, Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman, in a statement.

Two adult passengers were in the car at the time, though neither of them are facing charges. One of them is from Gainesville, said Booth, which may have been the reason Ibrahim was in the area.

Police never got into any form of pursuit with Ibrahim, who pulled over before officers even turned on their blue lights, said Booth.

Ibrahim was arrested at 12:20 a.m. on charges of felony theft by receiving, speeding, reckless driving and misdemeanor obstruction of an officer.

He was also charged for having no proof of insurance and removing a license plate.

Ibrahim is also wanted in Gwinnett County, though what warrants he faces were not immediately known.

At last report, Ibrahim remained in jail on $8,560 bond.
