Body found in Jackson County park last week ID'd as Winder man

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has confirmed that a body found in a park in West Jackson County is that of a Winder man.

The body of Buford "Mac" Evans, 41, was found around 12:13 p.m on Oct. 11 at Sell's Mill Park in Hoschton, according to a statement issued Tuesday by the GBI.

Autopsy results have not been completed to determine Evans' cause of death, though that could be two months or more away, said Nelly Miles, GBI spokeswoman.

The body was found in a creek by a park patron, who called 911 to report it.

Evans leaves behind a wife and three children, according to his obituary with Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford. Funeral services are planned for Thursday at the funeral home.
