Police: Buford couple left elderly mother alone in urine, feces-filled room

Gwinnett Police have charged a Buford couple for allegedly leaving an elderly woman alone in a room that was covered in urine and feces.

Christopher P. Huyhn, 48, and Katie T. Son, 41, are both charged with neglect for leaving Bong T. Le, 87, alone from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. each day in a room that had "multiple yellow and dark black/brown stains on the carpet" and "a strong odor of urine," according to a police report.

Le also smelled of urine when she was taken into an ambulance. Police were called when neighbors spotted her sitting under a tree on Rosecliff Road.

Police reported seeing furniture stacked into the doorways of the room. Huyhn, who told police Le was his mother-in-law, said it was to keep Le from getting into the kitchen and lightining the stove.

Huyhn and Son would "feed her in the morning before they leave for work" and then leave food on a chair in the room for Le to eat during the day.

There was also a matress and several pet "pee pads" in the room where Le stayed.

Adult Protective Services was called to assist Le.
