A pair of Georgia Department of Transportation projects will affect traffic on I-85 in Gwinnett and Franklin counties this week, officials announced.
On Monday night between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m., crews will be installing new "weigh-in-motion" equipment three miles south of Ga. 17 near Lavonia, necessitating alternating single lane closures on both sides of the interstate, according to a news release.
During the day Tuesday and Thursday, the southbound express lane of the interstate will be closed from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. between McGinnis Ferry Road in Suwanee and Sugarloaf Parkway in Lawrenceville.
Crews will be surveying the lane, which will be closed off with construction barrels.
Drivers are advised to use caution in construction zones.
