Local hotel looks to capture the essence of Gainesville in wall mural

Bass fishing in Lake Lanier, rowing and canoeing at the 1996 Olympics and the North Georgia Mountains are all things the city of Gainesville is known for.

The Guest Lodge Gainesville is looking to capture all of that in a wall mural at one of their local hotels.

“The idea was to capture what brings people to Gainesville,” said Jay Singh, owner of the Guest Lodge. “And then to put it on a wall.”

Singh reached out to his friend Rosie Falconi, owner of Falconi Designs based out of Atlanta, to carry out his vision.

“Just being able to bring a little bit of life into the town,” Falconi said of her mural. “See how much creativity can add as you’re driving by to see a little bit of what Gainesville has to offer.”

The mural will be most visible to those traveling along Queen City Parkway.

“It’s not just something for the customers,” Singh said. “I want everyone to be able to see it, enjoy it and to be proud of it.”

Falconi, whose company specializes in mural paintings, is hoping to have the Guest Lodge mural finished by Friday at the latest.

“(I want people to) get excited about what the town is all about and see it represented in the artwork,” she said.
