Local and state officials celebrated the ceremonial groundbreaking for the project Wednesday and shared project details.

Weekday overnight work hours for northbound lanes are 9:00 p.m. to noon the next day. Weekday southbound work hours are 7:00 p.m.-5:00 a.m. Weekend work hours for northbound lane closures are 9:00 p.m. Fridays, around the clock until noon Mondays. Weekend work hours for southbound lane closures are 7:00 p.m. Fridays to 5:00 a.m. Mondays. Concrete construction for the additional lanes will begin in the Spring.
The 13.4-mile, $47.4 million project is scheduled for completion by May 31, 2018.
Workers will add an additional lane in each direction on Georgia 400 from McFarland Parkway (Exit 13) to Georgia 369 (Browns Bridge Road). Bridges over Big Creek and the Sawnee Creek portion of Lake Lanier will be widened.
The project is funded through a partnership between Forsyth County and the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT). GDOT has contributed $13 million to this work and is managing the project. The remainder of the project funding – approximately $34.5 million – comes from the Forsyth County Transportation Bond approved by voters last November, which will finance a variety of transportation projects throughout the county.
