A woman who suffered severe injuries in a two-vehicle wreck Monday morning on Ga 400 in Forsyth County has died.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, the passenger in the Hyundai Elantra, Sharon Hall, 54, died Monday at Northeast Georgia Medical Center from injuries sustained in the wreck. Hall was airlifted to the hospital after the incident.

The accident happened between a commercial tanker truck and the Hyundai just before 8:30 a.m. on Ga 400 southbound between exits 14 and 13.

The sheriff's office said the driver of the Hyundai allegedly failed to maintain their lane, striking the truck. Both vehicles drove off the right side of the roadway and started to flip as a result of the collision.

The drivers of the truck and Hyundai both suffered "superficial injuries," according to the sheriff's office.

The crash remains under investigation.

Three people were transported to hospitals after a two-vehicle wreck Monday morning on Ga 400 in Forsyth County.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, one person was seriously injured in the wreck, which happened between a tanker truck and a sedan just before 8:30 a.m. on Ga 400 southbound between exits 14 and 13.

A 2016 HINO single tanker unit carrying compressed CO2 as well as several CO2 containers was reportedly traveling southbound in the outside lane and a 2016 Hyundai Elantra was heading in the same direction in the middle lane.

The Hyundai allegedly failed to maintain its lane, crossing over into the right travel lane and striking the truck, causing both to exit off the right side of the roadway. Both vehicles started to flip.

Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers said some of the smaller bottles from the truck were scattered across the scene during the incident. However, no leaks occurred and there was no threat of a hazardous materials incident, according to Shivers.

"The drivers had superficial injuries and were transported to a local hospital for evaluation," a press release from the sheriff's office said. "The passenger in the Elantra had to be extracted from the vehicle and was airlifted to a local trauma center."

The agency said driver error appeared to be the only factor in the crash.

The sheriff's office is continuing to investigate the incident.
