ATHENS - A 90-year-old retiree from New York says he may give up driving after his SUV was carjacked outside an Athens shopping mall.
Robert Moon tells The Athens Banner-Herald (http://bit.ly/s4pyYI ) that he drove to Georgia Square Mall from his home in Union Point to buy a replacement part for his cake mixer. He says he was leaving the Sears store at the mall around 6:15 p.m. Friday, when a man holding a gun grabbed his keys and drove off with his Ford Explorer.
Athens-Clarke police said investigators were checking surveillance cameras at Sears and elsewhere at the mall to see if they held footage of the armed robbery.
Moon, a retired New York City bus driver, says he suffers from kidney problems and other ailments and primarily drove to doctor appointments.
