A 'hyperdrive' winter

ATHENS - The state climatologist says this winter in Georiga - one of the coldest in years - was on "hyperdrive."

David Stooksbury issued his annual Winter Review Monday, noting that while it was typical of an El Niño winter for Georgia, the average mean daily temperature was extremely cold statewide.

Stooksbury says it wasn t that Georgia experienced long periods of bitterly cold temperatures in the single digits but the lack of the typical warm periods between the cold periods.
