A 'hyperdrive' winter

ATHENS - The state climatologist says this winter in Georiga - one of the coldest in years - was on "hyperdrive."

David Stooksbury issued his annual Winter Review Monday, noting that while it was typical of an El NiÃ±o winter for Georgia, the average mean daily temperature was extremely cold statewide.

Stooksbury says it wasn t that Georgia experienced long periods of bitterly cold temperatures in the single digits but the lack of the typical warm periods between the cold periods.
