Gwinnett sweep targets known sex offenders

By Ken Stanford Contributing Editor
LAWRENCEVILLE - From Buford to Duluth to Loganville and Dacula, more than a hundred police officers fanned out over Gwinnett County last night (Thursday night) in a sweep for sex offenders.

The operation was aimed at physcially verifying the addresses of Gwinnett's 350 registered sex offenders. We are told contact was made with 175 of them and the ones who were not at home can expect a follow-up visit.

As an aside, one unregistered sex offender was identified and 13 people were arrested on unspecified charges.
