Feb. much colder than normal

UNDATED - February is coming to a close and as cold as January was in north Georgia this year, it looks like this month was even colder... one of the region's coldest in many years in fact.

Temperatures at the Atlanta airport have been at or above normal on only three days so far this month, according to the Georgia News Network. And, that has been the case in much of north Georgia.

At Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport in Gainesville, highs have reached 50 or above on only six days during February, compared to 12 in January and 20 last February. The average daily temperature through Thursday was 38, compared to the "norm" of 45. The average high was 45, which is eleven degrees below normal. The average low? 30, compared to a normal of 33.
