GAINESVILLE - United Way of Hall County has named Joy Simpson Griffin as Vice-President of Resource Development.

In her new position, Griffin will be responsible for providing leadership in the development and implementation of resource development plans for the agency.

Griffin, a Hall County native and 1998 graduate of Gainesville High School, comes to United Way following stints in both the public and private sectors in public relations. She began her career in 2002 after graduating from Georgia State University.

Starting as an intern with NCR Corporation, Griffin was hired after graduation to serve as Marketing Specialist for the company and later promoted to Public Relations Specialist. Griffin wanted to base her career in her hometown so she accepted a position with the Hall County office of the American Cancer Society as Community Manager in 2005. In this position Griffin increased donor giving to over $532,000 in 2009 from $275,000 in 2004. In 2009 Griffin was promoted to Community Manager for the world's largest Relay For Life in Gwinnett County.

"Joy brings a strong hometown spirit along with a heart for giving," says Jackie Wallace, President of United Way of Hall County. "We're excited to have Joy's many talents. Her energy to connect volunteers and corporate support will strengthen our Hall County community."

Griffin is married to Bryan Griffin and lives in Gainesville with their two children, Jacob (3) and Rhett (2). She is the daughter of David and Faith Simpson and has one sibling, John.
