Major Hall road resurfacing project still planned

GAINESVILLE - The show will go on, or at least the paving.

The state Department of Transportation's Teri Pope says the main east-west route through Gainesville will get that new coating of asphalt later this year, as planned, adding it was included in the June bid letting.

Pope says the Browns Bridge Road/Jesse Jewell Parkway resurfacing - from McEver Road to E.E. Butler Parkway - was erroneously listed as among about $8 million in road work in Hall County that is being deferred for at least a year.

Pope says a decision on a contractor will probably be made next week. The work is expected to begin this fall.
