Winter Storm Warning ends, Cold Weather Advisory continues for North Georgia on Wednesday

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

Wintry conditions are going to linger in Hall County and northern Georgia areas throughout Wednesday, when it comes to the cold temperatures.

The National Weather Service has officially lifted the Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory headlines at 7:00 a.m. this morning. However, the region is still dealing with below-freezing temperatures and conditions Wednesday. Their Cold Weather Advisory shows:

  • Snow has come to an end across the forecast area. However, ample snow and ice linger on the roads, creating hazardous driving conditions.
    • Temperatures will remain below freezing for the majority of the day, aside from a few hours in the mid to late afternoon, so the snow and ice are expected to persist (especially on less-traveled roadways), leading to continued hazardous travel conditions.
    • Temperatures will quickly drop below freezing after sunset. Refreezing of roadways will be likely tonight into Thursday.
  • Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect for north and central Georgia until 9 AM this morning for very cold wind chills.
    • Wind chills will range from 0-10°F degrees in north Georgia and 5-15°F in central Georgia as the morning begins.
