Brenau names new math and science department head

GAINESVILLE - The author of 79 publications, including a book and numerous papers in medical literature, says he's ready to bring his organizaitonal and educational management skills to Brenau University

Dr. Randy May has been named head of the school's Mathematics and Science Department.

Dr. May, who has a background in stem cell research, will become chairman of Brenau's Math and Science Department August 1.
He most recently served as chief operating officer for the American Red Cross National Tissue Services in Washington.

May's honors and citations include the 1995 John Hopkins University's Stegman Award for Excellence in Business; a commendation for establishing Southeastern Burn Research Institute from the Governor of Georgia and a NIH Postdoctoral Fellowship. He served as president of the American Association of Tissue Banks from 1995-97 and as president of the Society for Cryobiology from 1989-91.

May also runs his own consulting company, Health Care Research LLC, advising pharmaceutical companies and the Federal Drug Agency and recently, guiding the setup of LXR
