Governor announces grants for NE Georgia

ATLANTA - Governor Perduce has announced the approval of federal grants totaling more than $3.7 million to support prevention programs for youth in several northeast Georgia counties, including Hall.

Governor Perdue has announced the approval of three grants totaling almost $60,000 for such programs in in Hall County.

The governor said the grants are to be used to assist in teen pregnancy prevention through abstinence education; prevention programs for high-risk youth; and treatment programs for juvenile offenders.

Christian Education Centers Incorporated and the Hall County Commission are each getting $5,000, and nearly $50,000 is earmarked for Solutions, Incorporated.

Hall, DeKalb, and Gwinnett counties will share $75,000 earmarked for Metro Atlanta Youth for Christ, Inc.

Other grants earmarked for northeast Georgia include $68,114 for Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeast Georgia, Inc., which serves Elbert, Habersham, Stephens and White counties.

The Children's Restoration Network, which serves Cobb, DeKalb, Forsyth and Fulton counties, is in lie for $26,556.
