Monday is deadline for voter registration

UNDATED -Georgia residents who want to vote for the first time in the primaries in Georgia July 20 have until Monday to register.

Hall County Director of Elections Anne Phillips says she expects to add about 1,000 new voters to the Hall County rolls by the close of business Monday.

Voters will chose Democratic and Republican nominees in several key races, including U-S Senate, all of Georgia's 13 seats in Congress, seats in the Georgia General Assembly and numerous county offices.

Nonpartisan races for judgeships statewide -- including a contested seat on the Georgia Supreme Court -- also will be held.

To register, a person must be a U-S citizen, a Georgia resident and 18 years old by election day.

Applications can either be mailed in (they must be postmarked by Monday) or completed in person at locations including elections/registration offices, such as Phillips', which is at Pearl Nix and John Morrow parkways; the Secretary of State's office at the state Capitol; public libraries; military recruiting offices; public assistance offices; driver's license offices; and other governmental offices.
