HELEN - Two Dekalb County police officers are free on bond following their arrest in Helen.
Police Chief Ted Ray told Channel 2 that Mark Perry Jr., and Timothy Garrett spent a night in jail after being charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
"We received a call concerning an altercation between employees of a restaurant and the customers," said Ray.
The officers allegedly attacked the owner, Ron Turner, and manager of Paul's Steak House in Helen last week when they were asked to leave for arguing with each other.
The officers were off-duty but were armed.
"Both were released on a bond the next day, and they will appear in court and go through the system," said Ray.
The Dekalb County Police Department has put Perry and Garrett on desk duty until the case is resolved.
