The City of Winder is inviting residents to an evening under the stars as Thank Goodness It's First Friday returns with a movie night on Friday, June 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Jackson Plaza.
This month’s featured film is Wicked, a musical that puts a twist on the classic story of Oz.
The free outdoor screening begins at 7 p.m. and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy a night of music, magic and community fun.
Before the start of the film, guests can enjoy a special appearance by Glinda and Elphaba, the iconic witches of Wicked, who will be available for photos from 6 to 8 p.m.
The first 150 children will have the opportunity to create magical mini potions at the event’s themed craft station, featuring glitter, sequins, stardust sand and swirls of enchanted color.
“This event is a great way to celebrate school being out for the summer and share a little magic with the community,” said Talore Ruedt, Winder’s Director of Events. “From meeting the witches to mixing potions and watching Wicked under the stars, there’s something fun for all ages.”
T.G.I.F.F. is a monthly event series held on the first Friday of the month in May, June, August, September and October.
Each of the events features a different theme, along with live music, food trucks and family-friendly entertainment, which is free and open to the public.
The June event is presented by Northeast Georgia Medical Center – Barrow, with additional support from Akins and ESG Operations, Inc.
