GAINESVILLE - Day care providers in Gainesville and Hall County had the chance to receive child safety training Tuesday morning from the Georgia Emergency Management Agency.
Spokesman Buzz Weiss says it covered a wide range of potential threats.

"Whether it's from severe weather, potential acts of terrorism or domestic incidents that might occur on their property, they were covered," Weiss said.

Each participant received a "Play It Safe" kit containing videos and instructional material for adults and children.
The program has helped public schools develop emergency operation plans the past three years.

"State law requires that every public school have a plan in place and these (schools) wanted to get trained," Weiss said.
However, unlike the schools, it is not mandatory for day care providers.
