MIAMI - The Home Shopping Network's foray into Spanish-speaking homes is coming to an end, after the company spent millions but failed to spur enough sales.
Three-year-old Home Shopping Espanol will close over the next several months as its remaining contracts expire, the company told 75 employees Friday.
Spanish-speaking viewers apparently prefer to shop 'til they drop in English.
``We had a lot more Hispanic customers shopping with the Home Shopping Network than we ever thought,'' said Mark Bozek, the network's president and chief executive officer.
But for the Spanish-language broadcasts, ``there simply weren't enough sales to justify us keeping it on the air,'' he said.
The shopping network, which with its Spanish-language cousin was once part of USA Networks, became part of USA Interactive in December.
