GAINESVILLE - Opening ceremonies for the 2002 Golden Olympics were held Monday at River Forks Park in Hall County.
Tom Fox has competed four or five years and carried the torch for the opening ceremony.
84-year-old Margie Nell Colbert is among this year's participants in the games, having won four gold medals last year.
Among the sports included in the Golden Olympics are swimming, tennis, cycling, golf, track and field, checkers, and horseshoes.
The Olympics are for people 50 and over. The morning began with the senior stroll.
