Partnership forms to bring holistic approach to mental health needs in Hall County

By Steve Winslow Anchor/Reporter

A collaboration is underway between Hall County Schools, Ivester House, and Brenau University to create a holistic approach to supporting the mental health needs of the community.

The Ivester House’s mission is to support the social and emotional needs of students and families in our community by providing psychoeducational, therapy, and assessment services while reducing the barriers and increasing accessibility of these services for students, families, staff and teachers.

Hall County Schools' Director of Student Services Joey Millwood says in a press release that, "By working together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of our students, providing them with the support they need to succeed and build resilience in the face of life’s challenges. We are excited for the impact this partnership will have on our schools, our students, and our community.”

Beginning in February, the partnership will occupy an office in Chicopee Villiage in order to provide the opportunity for free or sliding scale mental and emotional health counseling for all students and their families within the Hall County School System, Brenau University, and the community of Chicopee Village.  As they are available, appointments will be open to those in the surrounding Hall County community through the services are offered by Brenau University's Lynn J. Darby School of Psychology and Adolescent Counseling.  Doctoral and Masters level graduate students training to be therapists and psychologists will provide the services under the supervision of licensed clinicians.

For more information or to schedule an appointment, you call Brenau University's main Gainesville clinic number at 770-297-5959.
