By AccessWDUN Staff

HARTWELL, Ga. – Nolan Matthews was the difference for Lumpkin County as the Indians held on to beat Hart County Friday night, 19-14.

Matthews ran for 216 yards on 28 carries for the Indians, scoring twice in the fourth quarter. His final touchdown, which ended up being the game-winner, was an 85-yard sprint away from the Bulldog defense.

Hart County blocked a punt with just over five minutes to go to cut the lead to 19-14, but the Indian defense held on the final drive of the game to get the win.

Mason Hester finished the day 10-for-19 with 128 passing yards, throwing a touchdown to Mac Powell in the first quarter.

With the win, Lumpkin County moves to 6-0 under Heath Webb after a loss. They will play host to Dunwoody next week.
