By AccessWDUN Staff

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. — Quinn Kiewert was 3-for-3 with a solo homer run to lead the Cherokee Bluff softball team past Peachtree Ridge, 11-3, on Thursday.

Kiewert's homer came in the fifth inning. She also had two doubles, one in the first inning and one in the third inning.

Kaitlyn Benitez, Payton Davis and Claire Carlson combined for six of the team's 12, scoring in four runs and posting three RBIs.

But it was the Lions that struck first when Nora Badinger singled in two runs for an early 2-0 lead.

It didn't take long for the Lady Bears to answer as Lillie Diehl and Kiewert drove home two runs to tie the game.

That was the beginning of the blowout.

In the bottom of the second, the Bears broke it open when Mac Warren drew a walk, scoring one run. Then Audrey Graham signaled to extend the lead to 5-2.

Benitez and Davis singled to add two runs in the bottom of the third.

Bluff added four more runs in the fifth inning.

Davis earned the win for the Bears, going four innings while striking out four and walking two.

Cherokee Bluff will host Mill Creek on Wednesday.
