ELIJAH, Ga. — Union County suffered its first loss of the season in a 5-1 defeat to Gilmer on the road on Tuesday.
The Lady Bobcats led 2-0 before Union County cut the lead to 2-1 in the third, scoring on a passed ball. But would be all the Lady Panthers could muster as they stranded six baserunners on the afternoon.
Gilmer added two more runs in the bottom of the third and one more in the fourth.
Ayla Jamison took the loss for Union County, giving up four runs on five hits. Jamison struck out four and walked three.
Izzy Anthros led Union County with two hits.
The Lady Panthers next will play host Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy on Thursday.

The Lady Tigers also dropped their first game of the season, falling to the Lady Lions at home on Tuesday.
Three big errors doomed Dawson County (2-1), which gave up two unearned runs in the loss.
The game was tied 1-1 after Dawson County’s Bryce Greenwood doubled to left in the bottom of the first.
But Hebron Christian reclaimed the lead, 3-1, in the top of the second on a sacrifice fly and an error. The Lady Tigers cut the lead to 3-2 in the fifth on a RBI double from Kaelyn Utech.
The Lions, however, answered with three runs in the sixth to extend their lead. Dawson County scored on in the sixth and another in the seventh to get within 6-4 and had the winning run at the plate. But Hebron got Hannah Walden to ground out to end the game.
