Cumming to temporarily close Dobbs Creek Recreation Center

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

The city of Cumming is planning to temporarily close the Dobbs Creek Recreation Center for over a month starting in late July.

The city announced the planned closure this week, saying it is being done to resurface the facility's hardwood flooring on its basketball courts and renovate restrooms. The center is located on Dahlonega Highway near Pilgrim Road.

"Open gym/play sessions will be suspended during the closure, but other programs provided at Dobbs Creek, such as gymnastics and self-defense, will shift to the Cumming Events Center at the (Cumming Recreation & Parks Department's) main office," the city said in a release.

That main office is located on Pilgrim Mill Road.

The closure will begin on July 28 and continue through Monday, September 1, with the center re-opening on Tuesday, September 2.
