Habersham deputies to increase traffic violation enforcement ahead of July 4th holiday

By Lawson Smith Anchor/Reporter
The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Units have joined a statewide coalition to enforce traffic violations throughout the Independence Day holiday.

Now through July 6, the agency’s patrol deputies and H.E.A.T units will provide enhanced efforts to reduce crashes and fatalities caused by impaired drivers through Operation Zero Tolerance.

The department shared in a social media post what the operations efforts will look like throughout the area.

“Here in Habersham County, drivers can expect to see an increased level of traffic enforcement on state routes and other high-volume thoroughfares," the post said. “...Roadside safety checks will be established throughout the county at different times. The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office will provide every effort to serve our citizens by keeping our roads safe for those who live and play in Habersham County.”

In the post, HCSO reminded the public to maintain safe speeds, wear seatbelts, put away mobile devices and to celebrate responsibly throughout the holiday travel period.
