Demorest man faces battery, home invasion charges in domestic incident

A Demorest man remains in the Habersham County Jail on charges of family battery, home invasion and obstruction following a domestic incident Tuesday night.

A report for the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were dispatched to a home on Royal Acres Road just after 7:30 p.m. A female victim had reported that her son, Dylan Blain Galloway, 32, was acting aggressively and yelling. She also advised officers that Galloway had been violent with law enforcement in the past.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies saw Galloway exit the front door of the residence and then re-enter. When a deputy made contact with the suspect, he reportedly shouted obscenities and did not immediately comply with officers.

The woman who had initially called the agency was also found with a bloody nose, reporting that Galloway had hit her. One of the deputies made contact with Galloway again and attempted to place him into handcuffs. Galloway then attempted to punch the deputy, resulting in a brief altercation between the two until the deputies could regain control.

After Gallaway was in custody, the victim informed officers that she had locked Galloway out of the home before law enforcement arrived, at which point he kicked the door in and broke the door’s frame. After re-entering the home, he began punching her in the face and head, the victim reported. The victim also reported he had been threatening her while she called 911.

Emergency services were called to evaluate the victim, but she refused transportation.

While officers were still at the scene, Gallaway reportedly continued to be combative, attempting to kick the back window out of the patrol car in which he was placed. He was then taken to the Habersham County detention center.
