Brenau Avenue in Gainesville to become one-way, single-lane amid downtown projects

By AccessWDUN Staff
Brenau Avenue between Bradford and Green streets in downtown Gainesville  will become a one-way, single-lane thoroughfare as major utility upgrades get underway Monday.

The City of Gainesville said Green Street traffic will be able to turn left or right onto Brenau Avenue to access Bradford Street. Bradford Street traffic exiting the historic square will be unable to turn right onto Brenau Avenue to access Green Street.

Instead, Bradford Street traffic will need to continue to the traffic light, turn right onto Academy Street, then right onto Green Street.

The temporary change in traffic flow will and remain in effect until further notice for multiple months, according to the city.

The adjacent private parking lot at Bradford Street and Brenau Avenue, intended for customers of several nearby businesses, is also unavailable until further notice as it’s become a staging area for equipment and materials.

Those traveling in the area are urged to drive carefully, follow all detour signs, and watch for construction workers, flaggers and equipment during this time.
