GREER, S.C. — Spencer Ralston fired a 4-under par 68 on Friday to make the weekend at the BMW Charity Pro-Am Korn Ferry Tour event.

Playing on the Carolina Country Club course, the Gainesville native did most of his damage on the Par 5s, going 4-under on the day with birdies on Nos. 13, 15, 4 and 9 after starting his second round on No. 10. He sits at 6-under 137, tied for 51st heading into Saturday’s third round.

The tournament features a pair of courses in the Carolina Country Club and the Thornblade Club. Ralston will tee off at 7:40 a.m. on Saturday on the Carolina Country Club course again.

It was a solid start for Ralston, who shot a 3-under 33 on his opening nine holes, also getting a birdie on the Par 4 16th. He bogeyed Nos. 2 and 6 sandwiched around his birdie at 4 and pulled two shots ahead of the cut line at the time (4-under) with a birdie at the Par 5 9th to put him in a tie for 33rd.

He is 10 shots behind Austin Smotherman of Loomis, Calif., who blistered the Thornblade Club with a 62 on Friday.
