Lawrenceville Police recertified by the Chief of Police Association

By Helen Park

The Lawrenceville Police Department was recertified by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police on May 29, marking a notable professional milestone. The GACP state certification is awarded to agencies that demonstrate the implementation of sound policies and procedures that are aligned with professional standards.

The certification is a voluntary process that helps law enforcement agencies evaluate and add to their operations. This certificate also provides a structured framework to ensure that the departments align with the current practices in policing, with an emphasis on transparency, accountability, and community trust.

One part of the process includes an independent team of trained assessors conducting a comprehensive review, including an onsite assessment and a detailed evaluation of the departments submitted documentation. The review also focuses on the agency’s adherence to their established standards across areas such as organizational management, operational procedures, and engagement with the community.

Out of 1,205 law enforcement agencies in Georgia, the Lawrenceville Police department is among one of the 139 agencies across the state to have earned this recognition. This achievement reflects the department's ongoing commitment to build a safer Lawrenceville through community engagement and Processional Police Services.
