The newest director for the E911 services in Barrow County has decades of public safety work and experience, including time within Hall County's 911 Emergency Management .
Jeremy Pickett was recently selected to lead Barrow County E911 following the recent retirement of longtime director William Wright.
Pickett has served as Interim Director of the department since Wright’s retirement on May 5.
Barrow County Manager Srikanth Yamala says, “Jeremy has a strong background in 911, where he previously served as a dispatcher in multiple other jurisdictions, and in information technology – both of which make him uniquely qualified for this critically important role."
Pickett has more than two decades of public safety experience prior to joining Barrow County in July of 2024, when he first served as Assistant E911 Director before taking on the Interim Director role. Prior to that Yamala said Pickett held multiple roles in Hall County Government, including 911 Systems Administrator and Emergency Management Specialist. Pickett also held emergency communications positions with the University of North Georgia and City of Decatur.
“911 serves as the first line of defense in emergency situations, when seconds matter,” Pickett said in a county press release. “I look forward to ensuring our operations remain at the highest level as emergency responses are coordinated across the county.”
Pickett officially began his role May 25.
